How it works
Chess4prize handles registration, eligibility and results. Lichess handles the chess. Nothing in between needs a spreadsheet.
01The sequence
Nothing before the seat costs anything, and nothing after it needs you to chase a result.
Step 1
Email and a password. Free, and it takes under a minute. You only ever pay when you take a seat in a tournament.
Step 2
You authorise on Lichess’s own page. We receive your username, account ID and ratings — never your password, and never the ability to play as you.
Step 3
Bullet, blitz, rapid and classical, plus your rated game count and account age. These are what eligibility is checked against. You never type a rating in yourself.
Step 4
Eligibility is checked before you pay. If you don’t meet a rating band we tell you which rule failed and by how much, rather than taking your money.
Step 5
Your Lichess username joins the tournament’s entry list automatically, and you get a personal entry code that works only for your account. Two locks, and a shared screenshot opens neither.
Step 6
Standings appear here while you play. Final results are stored when the tournament ends, and every prize winner is re-checked against Lichess account standing before anything is marked paid.
02The Lichess connection
The link is the one step that makes everything else work, so it should be obvious what it grants.
One Lichess account can back exactly one Chess4prize account. That is what stops anyone entering a rating-capped tournament twice.
03Sources
Every number a prize depends on comes from Lichess, not from a form.
Confirmed through Lichess’s own authorisation flow. We store your account ID, not a name someone typed.
Read when you link, and refreshed before each tournament you enter. Never entered by hand, by you or by us.
Final standings come from the tournament you actually played. We publish what Lichess reports and do not adjust it.
